Want to be a freelancer? Awesome!
Well well well, So…. You want to become a freelancer too. That’s good. I appreciate it. Cause, as a career, I love to work on my own and without any BOSS, it’s a great profession.
But, before stepping out in this industry, are you sure that you have all the required skills? At this point you may ask me another question- What are required? Well, let’s discuss one by one-
1. Personal Computer: Not friends, fathers, brothers, sisters but your own computer. Why am I asking this? Cause, without it, you can’t become a professional. Cause, to be professional, you have to have your own environment in your PC as the PC is your office. So, confirm it first. Better, if you have Laptop.
2. English Proficiency: We all have learned English from Nursery to Masters’ level. So, hopefully we can speak English too. But, to become a freelancer, you need to know communicative English/ business etiquette. So, learn a bit on this.
3. Messenger: Create at least one messenger account to communicate with your client. Skype or GTalk would be a better choice.
4. File Storage Account: You need a File Storage Account to manage your files. Don’t think about Hard Disk for this. Think about Google Drive or Drop box etc.
5. Email Account: Sorry, this should be the third one. However, create a Gmail account. I am suggesting this cause, Gmail will give you many feature which are free and recommended by the clients. Also, learn how to use it’s feature.
6. Broadband Internet connection: The most important part. Without this, don’t start your career. A PC without better net connection is like a boat without ….. :)
7. 100% Profile Completeness: If above are OK. Then prepare your profile ready for clients.
8. Reference: You will get a good review/comments with 5* ratings to your freelancer account which will help you to get more jobs in future.
9. Bank Account/ Master Card: Verified Master Card is needed to confirm your money. Local Bank with swift code would be better solutions for withdraw your money. Another way to withdraw your money by a free Payoneer Master Card. You may apply for Payoneer Master Card from oDesk or direct from payonner's website.
Well, this are the main things you need to proceed. But, what I haven’t mentioned above is skill. Cause, skill is the #1 thing which will give you income. Be aware! Without a better understanding on any skill. Don’t apply. Try to learn something better. Take time. You have much time to learn. But, if you proceed without mastering. You may fall.
